The Yankees and Mets are, of course, crosstown rivals, but now, their respective booths have said goodbye.
It all started Tuesday, when Yankees announcer Michael Kay wasn't thrilled that an ad for the Mets' stand appeared on Kay's own radio show, which called itself “the best stand in baseball.”
Kay attacked ESPN New York's senior management, saying it was “completely clueless” to run that ad on the show. Of course, Kay also defended his YES Network partners, saying that he would accept them before anyone else.

Well, since the second game of the Subway Series had a rain delay, that gave the Mets announcers on SNY some time to poke some fun.
Announcer Gary Cohen said he had met the Yankees' new “young and very talented” player. [radio] announcer,” Emmanuel Berbari, who has shared time with Justin Shackil on WFAN since John Sterling retired.
Analyst Ron Darling was not going to pass up the opportunity.
“How do you feel about our program?” Honey, asked a former Metrekindling the flames.
“Uhhh, I don't think he really had any opinion,” Cohen responded.

“I heard it was the best rain in Major League Baseball,” joked fellow former Met and analyst Keith Hernandez. Kay had posted on X during the delay, joking that it was the “best rain” in baseballmaking fun of the mini-rivalry.
“I think it's time to play baseball,” Cohen said sheepishly, trying to shut it all down.
“I had to go there,” Hernandez responded.
Cohen and Kay have been friends for a long time in the business, so maybe this is all for fun. Kay even said that she would crush any meat that was necessary.

The Mets swept the two-game set with a dominant 12-2 victory on Wednesday, continuing their hot streak. Their 17-6 record in June is the best in the majors this month, while the Yankees have lost nine of their last 12 after a scorching start.
