A California man, who was bitten several times by a shark while swimming near San Diego, recalled “fighting” with the predator and punching it inside the mouth, according to a report.
Caleb Adams, 46, recalled his near-death experience in Del Mar, California, on June 2, sharing that he was swimming alongside 18 other swimmers who regularly train on the beach in the Pacific Ocean when he felt “a strong hit.” in my body”.
“I knew I had been hit by a shark. I struggled with the animal for a few seconds,” he told NBC News correspondent Gadi Schwartz.
The swimmer said he repeatedly punched the shark “inside its mouth,” recalling that he felt the predator's “softest tissue.”

“The second time I hit the animal and felt softer tissue,” he said. “I'm going to speculate that that was inside the shark's mouth. And he had several cuts on his hand and wrist.”

His clubmate, Kevin Barrett, heard Caleb's cries for help and rushed to help.
“You know it's a real scream,” Barrett said.
Barrett said that when he was carrying Adams to shore, he saw his blood “come out of his chest.”
“When I was swimming him, the blood was just coming out of his chest,” Barrett said.
After the attack, Adams underwent surgery and returned home recovering on June 6.
In a statement, the city of Del Mar said Adams suffered injuries to his torso, left arm and hand from shark bites. They said the attack occurred about 100 meters from shore.
The California city did not specify what type of shark attacked Adams.
