During an appearance on “The Zane Lowe Show,” the country singer explained how he managed to miss the birth of his son and detailed why it was “one of the worst days” of his life.

In August 2023, Combs, who was on tour in Australia at the time, woke up to a text message from his wife, Nicole, saying: “'I'm so sorry, I really tried not to have the baby while you were away. “

“And God, man, it sucked,” he said.

Although he was not physically there, Combs said he was able to virtually witness the birth of his second son, Beau Lee.

“I got to see him being born, which was amazing. He wasn't born yet, but my wife went, she texted me on the way to the hospital, and he arrived two and a half weeks early, and I was supposed to be home. and I wasn't,” Combs said, visibly emotional.

“And that was really hard to do, and I haven't really told anyone,” added Combs, who is currently promoting his new album “Fathers & Sons.” “But I didn't cover that much on this album because it's so hard for me to deal with.”

Despite the difficulty of being so far away, Combs said he was “lucky” that both he and his wife were surrounded by family and close friends.

“God, it was a tough day, but I was very lucky that a lot of my closest friends now work for me. And so I had a great support system,” she said.

“Luckily, my mother-in-law came over for a month while I was away, because obviously we have a 1-year-old and my wife is essentially nine months pregnant at the time, so thank God she was there,” he said. “My sister-in-law also lives in Nashville. So my wife had a great support system for that experience, which I'm very grateful for. That made it a lot easier. I had people with me, everything was great. There were no hiccups in the process or nothing like that”.

Combs and Nicole also share 2-year-old son Tex.
