The Los Angeles Police Department is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a driver involved in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian in North Hollywood on Friday night.
The victim, an unidentified woman in her 20s, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk at Victory Boulevard and Beck Avenue around 7 p.m. when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla heading west on Victory Boulevard, police said.
The driver continued on Victory before abandoning his car on the sidewalk a block later east of Troost Avenue, police said.
The driver, described as a man in his 50s, fled the scene on foot. He did not help the victim or identify himself, as required by law, authorities said.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took the woman to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police have not released the victim's name until her family can be notified.
A cash reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the driver.
