Larry H. Parker, the well-known Southern California car accident and personal injury attorney, has died, his family confirmed to The Times on Friday. He was 75 years old.
The late attorney's son, Justin Parker, confirmed his father's death and said the family had no further comment at this time. The date and circumstances of his death have not been revealed.
The 1973 Southwestern Law School graduate's face appeared on billboards along the streets and freeways of Los Angeles, but what solidified the Long Beach-based attorney and his firm in people's minds were their daytime television commercials.
Mention any kind of car accident and Parker would come in pledging his commitment to viewers and firmly declaring, while pointing his finger at the screen, “We will fight for you.” The commercials have been running for more than 40 years.
Parker decided to star in his own ads rather than hire an actor.
“I wanted the consumer to see someone who cared about their rights,” he told The Times in 1995. “They're seeing me, the real man.”
Parker graduated cum laude from Cal State Los Angeles in 1970 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, according to his LinkedIn profile. She was licensed by the California Bar in March 1973.
Over the past five decades, Parker's firm has successfully represented more than 100,000 clients, recovering $2 billion in compensation, according to its website.
The firm has more than 100 attorneys, paralegals and staff, and offices in Long Beach, Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, Fresno and Bakersfield, as well as Phoenix and Tucson.
