Kevin Costner announced Thursday night via Instagram that he will not be returning for another season of 'Yellowstone.'

“Hello everyone. I just want to contact you and let you know that after this long year and a half of working in Horizonand do whatever it takes and think about yellow stone, that beloved series that I love and I know you love it. “I just realized that I'm not going to be able to continue with season 5 or in the future,” Costner says in his post.

“It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you guys loved it. And I just wanted to let you know that I won't be going back. I love the relationship that we've been able to develop and I'll see you at the movies.”

Costner, 69, who has played John Dutton III on the series for five seasons, recently said he loved the show but was “disappointed” by how the production handled the rumors surrounding his departure.

“I loved the show. I liked the people on the show. I liked what it was about. I love that world,” Costner said.

'YELLOWSTONE' ENDS AFTER THE SECOND HALF OF THE FIFTH SEASON AMID THE KEVIN COSTNER DRAMA

“There was a time when that show for me stopped for 14 months… That's the fact,” he said. “I could have done many things in that time, but I was not aware that [hold-up] was going to happen.”

“I read all the stories,” Costner said. “I was disappointed that no one on their side… ever stepped forward to defend what I really did for them. There came a point where I thought, 'Wow, when is anyone going to say something about what I've done?' versus what I did?' You have not done it?'”

Costner said the show didn't have scripts for the second half of the season, making it especially difficult for him to balance work between Horizon and yellow stone.

“I left my movie [‘Horizon’] arrive on time for them for 5B,” Costner said. “I left exactly when they wanted, and that made it difficult for me. Turns out they didn't have the scripts for 5B. They needed four more days to complete the first eight episodes. “I came out early to give them what they needed to get a full eight, and I felt bad that the audience didn't get 10s. They didn't have the scripts for anything else.”

Costner added: “So what you read at the end was that I said, 'Well, look, I'm making my movie. If you want me to work a week because you want to kill me or whatever, I can give you a week.'” I didn't really have that week to give them, but I said, I'll do it and then them. [spun that] “I just wanted to work for a week.”
