Kendrick Perkins calls Brian Scalabrine a 'coward' after his former teammate claims he was excluded from Celtics parade

Two former Boston Celtics teammates, who were part of the last team to win an NBA title before this year's champions, are in an ugly dispute that is playing out in front of all the fans.

Brian Scalabrine and Kendrick Perkins were part of the 2008 Celtics team that won the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

However, Scalabrine claims that Perkins was intentionally not invited to this year's celebration with the team.

“No, no, no, no, no, no,” Scalabrine said on his SiriusXM show after being asked if Perkins was invited to this year's celebration in Boston after the Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks in five games. .

“Big Scarlet Letter… It's not really an open arms thing with Kendrick Perkins.”

Perkins heard what Scalabrine said about him and expressed his thoughts on Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub's “Felger and Mazz” show Monday.

“Right now, I feel like Scal is a coward,” Perkins said. “If you're going to say something like that in public and I contact you privately, at least call me.”

Perkins went on to say that he wasn't the only player from 2008 missing from the Duck boat.

“Was I the only member from 2008 missing from the duck boat? No, I wasn't,” he said. “[Eddie] House, my friend, he was there. Leon Powe, a great friend of mine, was there too. Scal was there and Paul [Pierce] It was there. There were still 11 other boys missing. And to be honest with you, if I had gotten an invitation, which I didn't, I didn't know we were supposed to get it, but nine times out of 10, I would have turned it down anyway.”

Perkins added that turning down a potential invitation has nothing to do with Boston or the Celtics.

“That's not our time. It's 2024's time,” Perkins said. “Let those guys have their moment.”

Perkins claims Scalabrine told him he would call back after missing a call from the big man, however it hasn't come to fruition.

“When I call you and you don't answer, and then you tell me that you'll call me later and that you don't want to have an adult conversation about it, and you always answer another time, I have a problem with that.

“Right now I feel like you're avoiding me.”
