The agents of the alcohol, tobacco office, firearms and explosives (ATF) of the United States and the local authorities intervened and interrupted what could have led to a school shooting in Washington DC, the agency said Thursday.
The ATF and the Metro Transit police were involved in the incident.
A minor was arrested on Wednesday night under suspicion of threats to kidnap and hurt, receiving stolen property, possession of a large capacity and illegal possession device of firearms and ammunition, said the press secretary of the White House, Karoline Leavitt.

The authorities granted a search order related to the case and found seven firearms.
The unidentified child was arrested after an investigation based on social media publications containing alleged violent threats to a school.
“So this was a minor that was a risk not only for himself, but also for the community here in Washington,” Leavitt said. “And last night he was withdrawn from the community due to the efforts to apply the law of this administration.”

The arrest occurred the same day after a gunman killed two children and injured more than a dozen others during the Mass at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.

The shooter died in the scene of a self -inflicted gunshot wound, said Minneapolis police chief Brian O'Hara.
