Jeremy Renner reflects on near-fatal snowplow accident one year later

It’s been a year since Jeremy Renner nearly died in a traumatic snowplow accident.

On Sunday, the actor appeared on the “New Year’s Eve Live” broadcast hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, where he discussed his road to recovery. The accident took place on January 1, 2023.

“I feel so blessed to have so much to live for, brother,” the “Hawkeye” star told Cooper, 56.

“I have a huge family,” the 52-year-old explained. “I have a 10 year old daughter, [and] “I would have disappointed and really ruined a lot of people’s lives if I had passed away, so I have a lot of things to improve on.”

The Marvel star admitted that he’s a “pretty stubborn son of a bitch” when it comes to his perseverance.

“There was a lot to fight for, and in my mind recovery was just a one-way road,” Renner said. “My recovery was a relief for me because I knew I could give relief to my family, my daughter and everyone it really affected. And to my poor nephew, who was there with me that day, I gave him images that can never stop see, but I know that my healing would be healing for him.”

“With that, I never thought about my own physical ailments, my own pain or my own heartbreak,” Renner continued. “I had so many things to fight for, so the one-way path to recovery was my mental attitude, and that attitude was always to get better. There is no other option than that. And I still work on every part. “Every day and thanks to God, I have a lot to fight for.”

Renner recently hinted that he was ready to return to acting. On Saturday, he took to social media and reposted a photo of him and his “Mayor of Kingstown” co-star, Emma Laird, on set.

“I’m back with my favorite guy next week,” the actress, 25, shared on her Instagram Story. Renner also posted the photo with a caption that read, “It’s happening.”

Renner also showed his gratitude to the Renown hospital that saved his life.

“Passing through Reno, NV with joy and blessing…” he began his Instagram post. “I stopped by to see kids/superheroes, first responders and doctors, nurses and staff at Renown Hospital. Paying my respects and celebrating the love, life and blessings it brings to us all. Thank you and this community for keeping me here.. “I will always be gratefully indebted to you.”

Renner broke more than 30 bones after he was hit by a snowplow while trying to help his nephew dig a stuck vehicle out of the snow on their Reno, Nevada, property last year. He suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Renner suffered blunt trauma to the chest and orthopedic injuries.

Bodycam footage showed what happened during that traumatic New Year’s Day.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Department officials responded to the bloody scene, which was reported by a neighbor shortly before 9 a.m. When Renner got out of the snowplow to check on his nephew, it continued moving. He jumped again to stop the snowplow but got caught in the tread.

In April, in the midst of her long recovery, Renner walked the red carpet for her Disney+ show “Rennervations” with her daughter. Renner used a cane to help him walk across the carpet.
