Iowa teen fire cadet faces terrorism charges after allegedly planning arson ‘hit list’: authorities

A fire cadet from Sidney, Iowa, faces multiple charges of terroristic threats after allegedly creating a “hit list” of people she wanted to commit arson, authorities say.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said Kaelyn Alexis Surrell, 18, allegedly created a “target list” of students and staff at Sidney High School, where she is a student, as well as others in the community.

Specifically, the sheriff’s office claims, Surrell threatened to commit acts of arson against the people on the list.

A local station KCRG in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, reported that officials said Surrell sent the list of results to at least one other person on Snapchat.
