The US Marines Corps. UU., In cooperation with immigration and customs control (ICE), has silently launched a pilot program to park ice agents in three main military facilities: Camp Pendleton in California, the base of the quantic marines in Virginia and the body of Marines Base Hawai.

The movement, aimed at strengthening security around these bases, has raised as many questions as you seek to answer.

Abby Hall Blanco, Professor of Economics and Defense at the University of Tampa, intervened in the lack of transparency around at the beginning of the program.

“We really do not have much information precisely in what led to this specific program,” he told Fox News Digital. “The program is intended to increase security, particularly around the perimeter of these bases of Marines' body.”

A Pentagon official issued a statement to Fox News Digital, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the effort.

“Our cooperative effort with ICE in MCB Camp Pendleton, MCB Quantico and MCB Hawaii is a pilot program that aligns with the improved security measures that we are implementing in all our facilities worldwide to deter the unauthorized installation access of foreigners.”

They said that the presence of ice personnel “improves the protection of force at the installation level by increasing visibility, coordination and awareness of threats at critical access points and in surrounding areas.”

The installation of ICE personnel is produced after high profile incidents, namely, the attempted 2023 rape by two Jordanian nationals in Quantico.

Both individuals were arrested on May 3, 2024 after trying to violate the base of Marines. A spokesman previously shared with Fox News Digital that the couple reached a cash truck and was stopped at the door. The driver told the military police officers that they were making a delivery to the Post Office and worked for a company outsourced by Amazon.

Subsequently it was confirmed that one of the two Jordanian citizens was illegally in the United States, with the other a foreign student whose state was finished, according to Ice.

Other incidents, including unauthorized flights of drones about military facilities and reports of the Wall Street Journal that around 100 Chinese citizens have tried to violate the military bases of the United States, add up to the image of a growing concern on the part of the United States government.

Despite the greatest security, Hall expressed skepticism about the implications of involving ice.

“It gives a strange impression that Marines's body is not handling its own safety enough,” he said. “Having known enough Marines in my time, I can't imagine that they find that this is a particularly flattering interpretation.”
