Social media users said Vice President Kamala Harris' first solo interview this week proved she doesn't have what it takes to take on the presidency.

Harris' interview with ABC 6 Philadelphia anchor Brian Taff went viral on social media on Friday as it showed her giving answers that were criticized for being too long and lacking substance about her actual economic policies.

Harris's critics on X claimed the conversation proved she was unfit for office. “Oh my god this is a complete disaster,” digital strategist Greg Price wrote of the interview on the social media platform.

The vice president's interview drew a lot of criticism online for one response in particular, where she gave a rambling answer about growing up middle class to a direct question about what policies she will implement to provide economic relief to Pennsylvanians.

“When we talk about bringing prices down and making life more affordable for people, what are one or two specific things you have in mind for that?” Taff asked.

Harris replied, “Well, I'll start with this. I grew up a middle-class kid. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked very hard. She was finally able to save enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager.”

The Democratic candidate continued: “I grew up in a community of working people, you know, construction workers, nurses and teachers. And I'm trying to explain this to some people who may not have had the same experience. You know, a lot of people will relate to this.”

At first, Harris declined to mention any policies, going on to talk about how she grew up “in a neighborhood of people who were very proud of their garden.” After talking more about her mother, she eventually touted her proposals to give startups a “$50,000 tax deduction” and new homebuyers a “$25,000 down payment assistance.”

For some X users, the response offered further evidence that Harris was unqualified for the job.

Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra wrote: “This interview that Kamala Harris gave is truly astonishing. I've never seen a politician so nervous, so unprepared for the office he's running for, and so disoriented heading into an election. It's a little scary, to be honest.”

Culture journalist Matt Kadish commented: “Typically, the primary process weeds out people who aren't ready for the big moment. Womp, womp.”

Author Tim Murtaugh claimed: “Kamala Harris is being mocked for her first solo (taped) TV interview tonight and there is not one Democratic account here defending her.”

The Trump War Room X account compared Harris' interview answers to similar responses she gave during her debate with former President Trump.

The story read: “Kamala during the debate on the economy: 'I grew up a middle-class girl…' Kamala three days later on the economy: 'I grew up a middle-class girl…' She has no plan for America; all she can do is repeat the same rehearsed talking points.”

Harris' campaign did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
