MAIN STORY: Minouche Shafik has resigned as president of Columbia University just weeks before students are set to return to the Ivy League campus. Shafik, whose sole year in office was marred by criticism for her slow response to rising anti-Semitism on campus, cited the toll the criticism has taken on her and her family. She follows the lead of former University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill, who resigned last December and former University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill, who resigned last year.
