The former Sheriff of the Los Angeles County, Alex Villanueva, has registered a campaign committee for the November 2026 elections to recover its previous publication.
Villanueva is the most important name he has declared in the race for the position he lost to Sheriff Robert Luna in 2022. Luna has already declared his plans to seek re -election.
A presentation on the website of the Secretary of State in California shows that a Villanueva has been registered for the Sheriff 2026 committee.
It is not clear when the presentation was made.
In an email to Saturday of Times, Villanueva did not immediately answer questions that seek confirmation about their intentions, but said: “I will have something available next week.”
Luna has directed the Sheriff's department with a relatively quiet hand, after Villanueva presided over a period of controversy and demands.
But Villanueva has maintained a high profile, using social networks and apparitions on transmission platforms to evaluate a wide range of issues related to the department and county policy.
