Former ESPN Employee Jemele Hill Defends Lebron James Breakup on Social Media, Says X Is 'At All-Time Low'

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has taken a break from social media “for the time being” and many have shared their own opinions on this behavior from the NBA's all-time leading scorer.

It also led to some defense of James, which came in the form of former ESPN employee Jemele Hill.

Hill applauded the move by James, who had posted on X, saying that “Twitter has become largely unsustainable. Selfishly, I hope he deactivates his account.”

That led to an argument in the comments under Hill's post, with one user saying: “I think being a sore loser and having to engage in uncensored opposition politics really bothers the left. It's a soft move.”

Hill responded by saying, “You all have this twisted belief that subjecting yourself to constant vitriol and associating with morons is some kind of badge of honor.”

“This app is at an all-time low,” Hill added. “It's full of racists, conspiracy theorists and idiots. If that's what they find intellectually stimulating, God help them.”

One X user agreed with Hill, commenting that he has an “easy answer” for those he doesn't want to hear from on the app: “the block button.” The X user also said that “there's a stigma that those who lean left are snowflakes,” to which Hill responded.

“What I find funny is that the people who use that 'snowflake' term are the weakest people,” he responded. “Sorry, it's not 'defying ideology' to call someone a c— 100 times a day. And [Elon] Musk also changed the block functions on the platform. And I repeat, no one owes you a commitment.”

Hill also recently defended James in regards to the presidential election, where he criticized San Francisco 49ers star Nick Bosa for his lack of explanation for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat in support of the President-elect Donald Trump before the election. Day.

James had provided details about why he supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the election, saying that “having a daughter, having a wife, having a mother and things of that nature, what (Harris) believes when it comes to the rights of women, that is what the future of my children will be and where I see our country should be.

Hill used James' detailed response about why he was voting for Harris to criticize Bosa.

“Oh look, LeBron was asked about a public political statement he made and he explained IN DETAIL why he did it. Nick Bosa doesn't have the guts to do this,” he said.

James' time off from social media came after he shared the screenshot of a lengthy X post from NBA agent Rich Kleiman, where he criticized national sports coverage for its negativity.

“We can all recognize that sport is the last part of society that universally brings people together. So why can't coverage do the same? When you say it, it's just click bait,” Kleiman wrote in that moment. “When the platform is so big, you can make the change and allow us all to escape the negativity of real life. For my part, this all seems like a waste of breath. The Olympics and JJ [Redick] and Bron's show was the future of what all of this can and should be.”

James said “AMEN!!” to the post before sharing her decision to step away from her social platforms.
