The necklaces allow researchers to track patterns of movement, survival, reproduction and use of habitat. These data help inform “Science -based management strategies that are critical for the recovery of this population,” said the commission.

The photos published by the Commission show the panther in a tree before the tranquilizer entered into force, at which time the animal was caught in a network.

While the panther collaborated, the biologists carried out a comprehensive health assessment, including blood tests and collecting tissue samples for genetic analysis.

Biologists captured the animal as part of a long -term research program that monitors the movements of a panther, the health and dynamics of the population, the commission said. The program provides data for conservation efforts in Florida Panther in danger of extinction.
