Jamie Lee Curtis has something special: a 40-year marriage.
The award-winning actress married her husband Christopher Guest in 1984, just four months after they met.
The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” star was asked about the secret to her long-lasting marriage.
“Well, you're not leaving,” Curtis told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet after winning an Emmy for “The Bear.”

“I've been sober for a long time, too. And in recovery we have a phrase: 'If you stay on the bus, the landscape changes.' And, you know, that's marriage. If you stay on the bus, the landscape changes.
“Suddenly, they literally want to hate each other, and then the next day, it's a nice, sunny day. And the dog does something cute. Or your kid does something cute. And they look at each other and say, 'Oh, my God. ' And then they're on a different path.

“I think perseverance, patience, kindness and a very good dose of hate.
“That's the truth. They're going to hate each other. They're not going to leave. They're not going to let that hate lead them to make a decision they're going to regret. I think that's really the secret.”
After marrying, Curtis and Guest adopted daughters Annie and Ruby.

In 2018, she told Good Housekeeping: “My husband and I are polar opposites. We have been for 33 years and we always will be.”

Curtis rose to fame after playing Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's horror hit, “Halloween.”
Producer Debra Hill said she cast Curtis because of her mother's status as a horror icon and that she would be “great publicity” for the film.
