A poll released by CBS News on Sunday found that more voters have doubts about President Biden's cognitive abilities following Thursday's presidential debate.

The poll, which was conducted Friday and Saturday, found that 18% of voters found Biden's debate performance to be trustworthy, while 44% thought former President Trump's performance was. Only 21% of voters surveyed thought Biden made his point clearly.

When asked in early June whether Biden had the mental and cognitive health necessary to be president, 35% of respondents said yes. After the debate, that figure was reduced to 27%.

On June 9, when asked about it, 65 percent of voters surveyed said Biden did not have the mental and cognitive health necessary to serve as president. That number has since risen to 72 percent.

Biden's poor performance in the CNN presidential debate has fueled anxiety about his chances of being re-elected. Both Republicans and Democrats have called for the president to end his campaign.

The New York Times The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's editorial board and editorial board have called for Biden to drop out of the race. After the debate, the Times' editorial board wrote that “the greatest public service Mr. Biden can perform now is to announce that he will no longer run for reelection.”
