Daniel Jones gets nervous as Giants and Lions have multiple altercations during joint practice

Two NFL teams practicing in 90-degree heat in August: What could possibly go wrong?

Well, the New York Giants and Detroit Lions had at least a couple of major altercations at their joint training camp practice at Big Blue on Monday.

The Lions traveled to New Jersey for two days of practice and it didn't take long for tempers to flare.

Perhaps the biggest fight began after Amon-Ra St. Brown and Dru Phillips exchanged pleasantries, with the All-Pro receiver shoving the Giant before both sides joined in, and several other players trading blows.

But the big surprise came a little later, when Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was one of the first to get into another fight.

Giants offensive lineman Jon Runyan was pinned to the ground by a Lions defensive lineman, upsetting the quarterback, who hit him from behind.

“Situations like this happen, you have to try to defend the guys,” Jones said afterwards.

Jones is coming off a torn ACL he suffered on Nov. 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, but he's clearly been in top form in training camp.

It was a disappointing season for Big Blue as they went 6-11 after surprisingly making the playoffs in 2022. However, as shown on Hard Knocks, they have greatly improved on paper after acquiring Brian Burns, new offensive linemen, and selecting Malik Nabers with the sixth pick.

Meanwhile, the Lions were just halftime away from their first Super Bowl appearance, but blew a 24-7 halftime lead that sent the San Francisco 49ers back to the big dance.
