Three British nationals could face death by a execution squad after a kilogram, more than two pounds, of cocaine on the island of Bali in Indonesia.

The charges against the trio were announced on Tuesday in a Bali court room. If it is declared guilty, they could face the death penalty. In Indonesia, drug traffickers sometimes run through a shooting squad.

A panel of three judges postponed the trial until June 10, when the court will hear the testimony of the witnesses.

According to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, there are currently 530 people in the death corridor in Indonesia, including 96 foreigners, mainly for drug -related crimes, AP reported.

The last executions in Indonesia were from an Indonesian and three foreigners, which were carried out in July 2016.

Lindsay Sandiford, 69, of Great Britain, has been in the death corridor in Indonesia for more than a decade.

Sandiford was arrested in 2012 after it was discovered that he was in possession of more than eight pounds of cocaine in the lining of his luggage at Bali airport.

The highest court in Indonesia confirmed the death sentence by Sandiford in 2013.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime says that Indonesia is an important drug demand center despite having some of the strictest drug laws in the world, partly because international drug unions are directed to their young population.
