“Real Time” host Bill Maher dismissed the interruption aimed at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker during his recent commencement speech, saying he doesn't see “what the big crime is.”
Comments Butker made in his commencement speech this week at the private Catholic school Benedictine College ignited a firestorm on the political left.
During a panel discussion Friday night, Maher mocked how his critics consider him “the biggest monster in history.”

“I can't express how much this guy is not like me,” Maher said during a panel discussion Friday. “He's religious. He loves marriage. He loves children… And now he's the biggest monster in history.”
“Again, I don't agree with much of this guy, but I don't understand him. He said… 'Some of you can go on to have successful careers in the world.' Ok, that seems pretty modern. “But I'd dare to assume that most of you are more excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world. “I don't see what the big crime is, I really don't know.”

“And I think this is part of the problem people have with the left: a lot of people in this country are like that. Like I'm saying some of you may go on to have successful careers, but a lot of you are excited about this.” differently than people, everyone, used to be. And now can't that also be a choice? Maher continued.
“And I feel like they feel very burdened, like there's only one way to be a good person and that's to get an advanced degree from one of those shit factories like Harvard.”

The HBO host then pointed out a bit of irony regarding the selective outrage toward Butker's comments.
“I find it very ironic that I'm saying, 'You know what? In my world, we like women to stay home and just have babies,' and college kids and young people find this absolutely abhorrent, but we're speaking out on behalf of them! of Hamas, which makes this law!, Maher exclaimed: “In Hamas it is not just an opinion that you stay home and have babies. They will make you comply [to do] that!”
