Biden's border chief Mayorkas in hot water over Jordanian nationals who tried to breach Quantico

FIRST ON FOX: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is coming under scrutiny following news that two foreign nationals from Jordan attempted to break into Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia while posing as delivery drivers.

“Please explain how they came to the United States. Were they here illegally? Are any of them on any terrorist watch lists?” Lindsey Graham, ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, R.S.C., questioned Mayorkas in a letter, also requesting the current status of the individuals.

The two foreigners attempted to enter Quantico earlier this month, showing up in a truck and identifying themselves as delivery drivers. After being taken to a holding area, they attempted to advance toward the Marine base. However, the agents prevented him from doing so.

The individuals were turned over to the custody of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the event.

Acting ICE Director Patrick Lechleitner previously told Fox News Digital that the aliens were in deportation proceedings.

Graham asked Mayorkas for an immediate response, asking for more information about the “background and intentions” of the Jordanian citizens.

According to the senior official, “This will allow us to make an informed decision on how to address the recurring threat that these types of incidents, which are not isolated, represent to our national security.”

DHS did not comment to Fox News Digital.

Republican lawmakers have increasingly sounded the alarm about vulnerabilities at the U.S. southern border as a security threat, pointing to the number of citizens from around the world entering illegally through it. Some have warned that a terrorist attack, similar to that of September 11, 2001, could occur again due to the relatively free illegal migration that is occurring to the US.

The House of Representatives made history earlier this year by removing Mayorkas, making him the second Cabinet official to suffer that fate.

However, the Democratic-majority Senate prevented an impeachment trial from moving forward, allowing the DHS secretary to avoid scrutiny.
