Biden defies pressure to oust him from the nomination, reveals his thoughts on Trump's VP pick

President Biden remained defiant about his standing as the Democratic nominee following a turbulent political weekend in a clip from his exclusive interview with NBC that will air in full Monday night.

“14 million people voted for me as the nominee of the Democratic Party, OK?” Biden told NBC's Lester Holt during his one-on-one interview at the White House. “I hear you.”

Biden also revealed to Holt that he had not fully reviewed the debate with Donald Trump, leading many within his party and among his donors to question his suitability to remain at the top of the ticket rather than step aside and let a younger candidate take over.

“I've seen bits and pieces, I haven't seen the entire debate,” Biden said.

Biden also had no kind words for Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, whom Trump chose as his GOP running mate.

“Well, it's not unusual: he'll surround himself with people who completely agree with him, who have a voting record like… who support him,” Biden said, before adding “although if you look at some of the things JD Vance said about Trump,” and then chuckled.

The full interview will air tonight at 9 p.m. on NBC.
