Angel Reese accuses the media of twisting her words: 'I can't trust any of you'

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese appeared to be more cautious with some of her responses Tuesday when speaking to the media following the team's loss to the Indiana Fever.

Reese scored a double-double in the close contest, which drew plenty of looks and reactions after her foul on Caitlin Clark was raised to flagrant-1.

However, amid the latest drama involving the two rookies and the surrounding chatter, the Chicago Sun-Times reported that Reese brushed off some questions with a two-word response: “I'm fine.”

Reese was then asked why the exchange started tense.

“I know they like to twist my words, so I'll keep it short and sweet,” the former LSU standout said.

“I can't trust any of you. So I'll let you know, short and sweet.”

Reese is off to as good a start to the season as anyone in the 2024 rookie class. She is second in points per game (12.1), first in rebounds per game (12.1) and second in assists per game (2.1). 1). According to Basketball-Reference, she ranks first in winning percentage (1.2), that is, the estimated number of wins contributed by a player.

Reese has also tried to navigate the intense attention that comes with her star power.

She was criticized for cheering on teammate Chennedy Carter after the veteran guard checked Clark's hip in the first matchup between Sky and Fever, and was later fined for skipping media availability.

Against the New York Liberty, Reese received two technical fouls and was ejected from the game. The WNBA later overturned the second technique.

After being called for flagrant, Reese insisted after Sunday's game that some players would receive a “special whistle.”

The 22-year-old Maryland native and her teammates will have a much-needed Olympic break starting July 17. However, Thursday night begins a tough stretch of games until the end of June.

The Sky play the Dallas Wings, followed by another game against the Fever on Sunday. The team also has the Las Vegas Aces and Minnesota Lynx on the schedule.

Fortunately, all the games are at home before they hit the road on July 2 to play the Atlanta Dream.
