A Florida woman, who took refuge in Madrid, Spain, in the midst of her tumultuous divorce, disappeared under mysterious circumstances, authorities said.
In December, Ana María Knezevic, 40, moved to an apartment in Madrid, Spain, to briefly escape during her contentious divorce from her Serbian husband.
In early February, authorities said Knezevic mysteriously disappeared from his rental apartment in Spain.
Shortly after his sudden disappearance, authorities said a man, whose identity was obscured by a motorcycle helmet, was captured in grainy footage that disabled security cameras in Knezevic's apartment.

The motorcyclist allegedly used spray paint on the lenses.
The following day, a series of suspicious text messages were sent from Knezevic's mobile phone to two of his closest friends.
The messages were sent in both English and Spanish, her friend Sanna Rameau told the Associated Press.
The messages claimed that Kenzevic was swept up in a whirlwind romance and had decided to run away with her new boyfriend.
“I met someone wonderful!! He has a summer house 2H (hours) from Madrid,” the messages said. “We're going there now and I'll spend a few days there. The signal is spotty. I'll call you when I get back.”
This was followed a minute later by a second text message: “Yesterday after therapy I needed a walk and he approached me on the street! Amazing connection. Like I've never had before.”
Rameau claimed that her 40-year-old friend would never run off with a man she had just met.
“She wouldn't do this… it's very unsafe and crazy behavior. She wouldn't do that. She wouldn't do that,” Rameau said.

Rameau said the text messages were not written emotionlessly or flatly, not like his friends' typical texting style.
“It just didn't make sense,” Rameau said.
Knezevic and her husband, David, had been married for 13 years before the unhappy couple decided to separate.
The couple owns a company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, called EOX Technology Solutions Inc.
Records showed they also owned a home and two other properties in Fort Lauderdale, one of which is currently under foreclosure.
Ana's brother, Juan Henao, called the divorce “nasty” in an interview with a Fort Lauderdale detective.
“There is a substantial amount of money at stake that will be divided between the two and David is not happy about it,” Henao said.
David Knezevic's current whereabouts are unknown.

Rameau said Knezevich never mentioned that she feared her husband or that he was abusive.
“She never told me she felt in danger,” Rameau said.
Police in Madrid and Fort Lauderdale were notified of Kenzevic's disappearance and have begun investigations.
Spain's Missing Persons Association has posted Knezevic's photograph in the country's capital, but has not received a response, said spokesman Joaquín Amills.
