An alleged carjacking takes an unexpected turn when a would-be thief is trapped in the vehicle: “I was in shock”


A Florida man was left “in shock” after returning from breakfast to find a would-be burglar trapped inside his car begging for help.

“To be honest, I was in shock. I had just come back from having a bagel at Starbucks and all of a sudden, to my surprise, there was a gentleman inside my car,” Julio Solano told “America's Newsroom” on Friday.

Solano's Corvette was parked in a Miami Beach parking lot. He separated told WSVN The garage attendant was the first to alert him that someone was in his car.

“It all happened pretty fast. At first he was there checking the cars to see if he could get into any of them. I don't know how he got into mine,” Solano said.

Solano captured a video showing suspect Ravesh Rabindranauth calling for help after becoming trapped inside his sports car.

“No, you can't go out, we… [are] “Calling the police, what do you mean what? This is carjacking, are you trying to steal my car? What are you doing?” Solano is heard telling Rabindranauth as he sits in the driver's seat.

“Brother, this is not your car, it’s my car,” Solano tells him at another point in the video.

Solano said the suspect was trapped inside the vehicle because “the lock is electric, so there is no manual door handle that can be pulled. You need the key to unlock the car.”

“We kept arguing constantly,” Solano told host Dana Perino. “He kept begging me to let him out of the car. There was no way I was going to let him out. One, he was trying to steal my car. And two, I don't know if he's armed or has a gun.”

Rabindranauth is Now accused of theft of an unoccupied vehicle and is being held on $2,500 bail.
