An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 hit East of Afghanistan near his border shared with Pakistan on Sunday night, killing at least 250 people and wounding hundreds more.

The earthquake was informed at 11:47 pm about 17 miles to the east-northeast of the city of Jalalabad in the province of Nangarhar, said the geological service of the United States.

The area is difficult to access, so the scope of damage and injuries is not known completely at this time.

The Kunar Disaster Authority said in a statement that at least 250 people died and that another 500 wounds, although these figures were expected to increase.
