Adams renounces the New York Mayor's career as Mamdani, Sliwa Vie for November.

With Mayor of New York City Eric Adams Abruptly ending his re -election campaign on Sunday, leader rivals Zohran Mamdani fought to capitalize.

Adams announced his decision in a video of almost nine minutes published in X. He did not offer clues about his plans after leaving office and did not support any of the remaining mayor's candidates.

MamdaniA democratic socialist presents the moment as a turning point, promising that on November 4, “New Yorkers will change the page in the policy of great money and small ideas.”

“Donald Trump and his billionaire donors could determine the actions of Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo, but will not dictate the results of this choice,” Mamdani wrote in a statement.

“New York deserves something better than trade in a dishonor and corrupt politician for another. On November 4, we will change the page about the policy of great money and the small ideas and deliver a government that the whole New Yorker can be proud,” he added.

Meanwhile, the campaign of Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa framed him as the strongest challenger for Mamdani.

“Curtis Sliwa is the only candidate that can defeat Mamdani. Our team, our resources and our funds are unmatched,” wrote the spokesman for the Daniel Kurzyna campaign in a statement.

“The most important thing is that we have the best solutions to help working people to afford in New York City and feel safe,” Kurzyna added.

Former governor Andrew Cuomo He said he believed that Adams's decision was “sincere by putting the well -being of New York City ahead of personal ambition.”

“Mayor Adams has much to be proud of in his achievements. Regardless of the differences we can have, the story of Eric Adams is undoubtedly a resilience, a testimony of the spirit of this city,” added Cuomo.

The minority leader of the House of Representatives, Hakeem Jeffries, DN.Y., thanked Adams for his service, but maintained the support of a successor, saying that he will share his views before the early vote begins.

“During his time in office, violent crime has decreased, the construction of affordable housing units is up and New York City has recovered from the Covid-19 Pandemia,” Jeffries wrote in a statement.

“In the next few days, my entire approach will be to address the republican health crisis and finance the government,” Jeffries said, adding that “he will publicly intervene” in the remaining mayor's candidates before the beginning of the early vote.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said she has been proud to work with Adams to “make New York city more safe, stronger and more affordable,” he wrote in a publication about X.

“Leave New York city better than he inherited and will always be fundamental for his legacy as mayor,” he added.
