Aaron Judge sends Yankee Stadium into a frenzy after hitting a grand slam against the Red Sox

Aaron Judge brought Yankee Stadium to its feet on Friday night with a single swing of his bat.

The Yankees captain and former MVP came on with the bases loaded and no one on in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Yankees were trailing 4-1 to the Boston Red Sox.

Judge then hit a 2-0 pitch to deep right field, the kind of home run the crowd knows is gone before it leaves the infield. It gave the Yankees a 5-4 lead. The Yankees held on to win, taking the first two games of the series against Boston and extending their lead in the American League East over the Baltimore Orioles by three games.

The Yankee Stadium crowd erupted into one of its loudest ovations of the year as fans celebrated their star player's big moment over his hated rival.

For Judge, the grand slam broke one of his rare home run droughts. Entering Friday night's game, Judge hadn't hit a home run in 16 straight games, which was the longest streak of his career without one. It's a streak that came amid arguably Judge's best hitting season yet.

But before Friday, after hitting two home runs against the Colorado Rocky Mountains As of Aug. 26, the six-time All-Star is hitting .204 (11-for-54) with 22 strikeouts in his 15 net games.

Judge's longest career home run streak came during his rookie season, when he didn't leave the field in 15 games from Aug. 17 to Sept. 2, 2017.

Before his current drought, Judge was on a blistering pace, hitting nine homers in 10 previous games, making people wonder if he had a chance to break his own American League record for most homers in a season that he set in 2022 with 62 homers.

Still Judge is currently in the driver's seat to win his second American League MVP award in three years.
