A search was underway on Sunday night for six missing people after a small plane crashed in the San Diego ocean that afternoon, authorities said.

The United States Coast Guard received a report at 12:45 pm that a double engine C -C -one 414 had crashed around three miles west of Point Loma. According to the Coast Guard, a rubble field was located outside the coast in an area where the water was estimated in 200 feet deep.

Multiple agencies worked together to travel the area for any survivor on Sunday afternoon and night. This included teams from the Air and Marine Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection of Air and Marines, San Diego Police Police Equipment and San Diego's lifeguards.

No one had been found from 11:30 PM, said the non -commissioned officer of the Coast Guard Ryan Serious to the Times. The crew of the Coast Guard Sea will remain on stage during the night to continue the search, and the helicopter teams were prepared to join the first -light effort, he said.

The local resident Tyson Wislofsky witnessed the accident while sailing near Point Loma on Sunday afternoon.

“I saw him fall into Angle. He didn't fly directly to the ground,” Wisofsky told NBC4 News. “The next time he left the clouds, he went directly to the water. He continues complete.”

The National Transportation Board is investigating the cause of the accident. Information about the identity of the missing ones was not available immediately.
