4.6 magnitude earthquake strikes near Malibu and shakes Southern California

A magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck Malibu on Friday and was felt across a wide swath of Southern California.

The tremor was reported at 1:47 pm about seven miles northwest of Malibu. Several aftershocks followed.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

The Malibu earthquake was not related to a magnitude 5.7 earthquake that struck the southern tip of Hawaii's Big Island on Friday.
