In the world in constant evolution of skin care, Indian women face unique challenges formed by various climates, skin types and life styles. To better understand these concerns and how Olay addresses them, we talk to David Khoo, main scientist, Olay, who shared fascinating knowledge about research, science and innovation behind the iconic olay 7 in 1 serum and wetting in gel.

Understand Indian skin

Khoo explains that brand's investigation discovered a critical vision: Indian women have the weakest skin barrier among the five ethnic groups studied. This makes your skin more vulnerable to damage. At the same time, almost 50% of the skin care of the skin of Indian women are related to anti -aging, however, only about 10% really use anti -aging products.

“It means that there is a great gap. Not only its skin barrier is weak, but also that they do not address the needs of their skin with the correct ingredients if they are interested in the anti -aging benefits,” says Khoo.

What Indian women really want, adds, is a soft and bright skin, but it manages to go far beyond surface level treatments.

Science behind soft and bright skin

Khoo breaks down the science of brightness in simple terms: it is about how light interacts with the different layers of the skin.

The superficial layer must be soft and renewed.

The underlying layers must be free of dark spots or melanin accumulation.

Collagen must act as a healthy mirror, reflecting the light evenly through the skin.

When all these factors work together, the skin looks naturally radiant.

“Many people do not know that the collagen plays a role as a mirror. If the collagen is not healthy, the mirror is cracked. But when the collagen is healthy, it reflects the light uniformly, giving the skin that soft and bright appearance,” explains Khoo.

Olay addresses this with three powerful synergistic ingredients: niacinamide, vitamin C and a collagen peptide, all formulated to strengthen, renew and restore Indian skin from the inside.

Creation of products for the diversity of India

Developing a skin care solution for India was not easy. With such diverse climates and skin tones throughout the country, the brand had to go beyond consumer research at the surface level.

“What we have always done is study Indian skin, try prototypes, obtain comments and adjust our choices accordingly,” says Khoo. “It is not a night process. It is a milestone that we have reached this point where we have Olay 7-in-1 and we know exactly what Indian women are looking for.”

The future of skin care: simplicity and science

Looking towards the future, Khoo sees anti -aging as a growing priority worldwide, especially because people live more. At the same time, today's women, particularly in India, are occupied and want intelligent solutions that save time.

“Indian women are booming. If we can offer them an effective step of 7 in 1 that saves time while ensuring the best skin care, we are on the right path,” he says.

From ideals of glow of beauty centenarians to modern concerns such as pollution and aging, the skin care trip of Indian women is complex. With products such as Olay Total Effects 7-In-1, David Khoo and his team are joining tradition with science, offering solutions that not only serve Indian skin but also simplify routines without compromising the results.
