There is always more to discover in California. When Bill Addison restaurants critic assumed the challenge of writing a guide of the 101 best restaurants throughout the state, his intention was to compile the places that told the richest and most broad story here at this time. It is an answer that must evolve.
Wait more regional guides from Addison soon, but in the meantime, we ask the Times readers where our critic should venture to the next one, perhaps a remote city in the wine country of Santa Ynez or the forest north near the Oregon border. These are some of their suggestions:
“Chi Chi's In Saugus or Simi Valley, ”he writes Zena TorresWho says he prefers those locations on others in Canyon Country and Northridge. “The fresh wheat rigatoni with meat sauce is my favorite. I am convinced that no one and no place on earth can make a better antipastic salad with the vinaigrette of the house. It is addictive and they have ruined me, I cannot ask for an antipastous salad anywhere else, because they are always bad compared.”
Beyond that, Torres recommends that Addison visit cities such as Sunland and Tujunga in the East Valley of San Fernando, as well as Santa Paula, Fillmore, Ventura and Oxnard.
Bonny Ahern suggests: “Trufa Bistro On Tustin Street in the city of Orange. “
“Verify Lil 'Vegerie In Redondo Beach, “he writes Leah Felton. “Incredible and delicious, even carnivores love food!”
“Chi It has the best Chinese food in the area, and is always full, ”he writes Susan Parkerwhich suggests more exploration in the Northwest Valley of San Fernando, including Chatsworth, Northridge and Granada Hills.
Parker, who says he lived in New York City for several years, is also a fan of Deli de Brentwhich was added to the restaurant list of the Times Hall of Fame in 2022.
