Fashion's most anticipated red carpet event is just a few minutes away.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City will be filled tonight with beloved musicians, transformative artists, emblem designers, famous actors and influential celebrities to celebrate the Costume Institute's spring 2024 exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: The Awakening of Fashion”. Co-chairs for the evening include Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny, while FashionRed carpet hosts will be La La Anthony, Gwendoline Christie and Ashley Graham, along with special correspondent Emma Chamberlain.
This year's theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Fashion Awakening,” which is not a reference to the Disney fairy tale. Within the exhibition will be displayed 250 pieces from the Costume Institute's permanent collection, some of which date back to the Elizabethan period. The idea is to reimagine fragile designs that can never be used again in new ways through CGI, light projections, soundscapes and video animations.
Guests will follow the dress code of “The Garden of Time,” a nod to JG Ballard's 1962 short story. The story details Count Axel, his Countess, and their dwindling garden as an angry mob descends on their peaceful home and nursery of crystalline flowers.
Along with the four co-chairs and event organizer Anna Wintour, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Kendall Jenner, Uma Thurman, Sarah Paulson, Cara Delevingne and Olivia Rodrigo are expected to be at tonight's Met Gala, according to a statement from the April 13th. Page six report.
The 2024 Met Gala red carpet broadcast will begin at 6 p.m. ET, and the event will stream on FashionTikTok and YouTube account of.
With the red carpet unofficially underway, the theme of the night appears to be black dresses. Anna Wintour arrived in a black jacket with floral embroidery, while Emma Chamberlain opted for a black lace ensemble. Despite a theme that promised flowers, Ashley Graham also chose black for the 2024 Met Gala.

Chase Stokes describes the 'wild moment' when he received his invitation to the 2024 Met Gala
During an interview with People, published on May 6, actor Chase Stokes spoke about being cordially invited to the fashion event. He also stated that when he received the invitation he was with his girlfriend, Kelsea Ballerini.
“This is really a crazy story,” said the External banks the star told the publication, as she will be attending the Met Gala for the first time tonight. “She had just flown from Morocco to Atlanta to reshoot a movie with Netflix. It was a 26-hour travel day. I worked all day and the next morning I had to do something. I was on my way to the aquarium with my girlfriend and we got the call. I thought, 'Oh my God, let's go to the Met.'”
He added that when he and his partner received the call, it was “a very wild moment” that he “would never, ever forget.”

It's still early in the evening, which means we still have hours before some of the biggest names take to the steps of the Met. However, fans outside the museum are hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorites.
Speaking to Kaleigh Werner from across the street from the museum, Carly Fox said she's not entirely sure who she's most excited to see tonight, but she's looking forward to seeing Zendaya.
“Definitely Zendaya, for sure, but I'm looking forward to seeing Sabrina Carpenter,” she said.
Claire, who also lined up for the chance to see the celebrities as they enter the gala, said she is “hoping to see Taylor Swift” but is “not sure if I'll go.”
“I'm also looking forward to seeing Blake Lively because she's always one of my favorite dresses at The Met.”

Zendaya returns to the Met Gala after a five-year hiatus
Zendaya will walk the Met Gala red carpet tonight as it marks her first time attending the event since 2019. During an episode of Lives with Kelly and Mark last month, the Euphoria The star described why she is nervous about going to the 2024 Met Gala, where she is one of the co-chairs.
“I went for the first time when I was 18 and Law [Roach] and I, my stylist, have worked together since I was like 14 years old. But I remember being 18 and it was a new and exciting experience,” she said. “But it's still scary.”
Zendaya continued: “Going up the stairs is very daunting and I haven't been back in like four or five years. “So this is my first time at the Met in a while.”

Anna Wintour seems shy when asked if Taylor Swift will go to the Met Gala
During an episode of Todaywhich aired on May 6, Jenna Bush Hager opened up about her one-on-one chat with Anna Wintour ahead of the 2024 Met Gala. She noted that when she took the opportunity to ask Wintour if Taylor Swift would be at this year's fashion event , the Fashion The editor-in-chief simply replied: “I hope you come and enjoy the exhibition.”
Bush Hager later acknowledged how Wintour's comment left room for interpretation about Swift's attendance, adding: “So that could be yes, that could be no.”
While nothing is confirmed yet, Wintour's comment came as there have been several reports that Swift will not be at the Met Gala. According to a report shared by TMZ Last month, Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, received invitations to the event, which supports the coveted costume institution of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
However, Swift will not attend because the gala coincides with the same week that her Eras Tour returns from its hiatus with a concert in Paris. This isn't a definitive reason why Kelce won't be going to the Met Gala, but TMZ reported that he will probably skip it because his girlfriend won't be there.
