Internet reacts to Simone Biles' electrifying Olympic routine

Simone Biles stole the show with her impressive gymnastics floor routine on Friday, the first night of the U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Team Trials in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and fans lapped it up.

With two days of trials remaining until the Paris 2024 Olympics, Biles leads the field with a score of 58.900, with Jordan Chiles in second place with 56.400 and Suni Lee in third place with 56.025.

After her first test (the uneven bars), Biles placed second. But it was his two favorite events, floor and jump, that allowed him to obtain points and reach first place, while the public screamed.

For her second floor routine, Biles collaborated with French dancer Gregory Milan to choreograph her routine, according to NBC. In it, Biles landed a triple-double, also known as the “world’s most difficult somersault pass,” according to NBC Olympic Games announcers.

“My God! “Everyone else in Paris will only compete for silver and bronze!” wrote one person on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Man, watching Simone Biles' floor routine is like watching pure magic,” another added, while someone else gushed, “Nothing makes me feel more patriotic than Simone Biles doing a floor routine.”

“I can't stop looking [her routine]“wrote podcast host Josh Reynolds. “One of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life. I still can't understand how it moves through the air like that. Just amazing. Is incredible”.

Another fan filmed himself attempting the highly decorated Olympian's moves, and posted videos of him and Biles side-by-side performing the moves, with the caption: “icon. legend. moment.”

The routine included an instrumental version of Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for It?” to the delight of Swift fans around the world.

“Song is clearly 'ready for it?' and we still weren't,” someone praised the seven-time Olympic medalist.

“Simone Biles starting her floor routine with Taylor Swift is everything,” said one fan on X, while another said: “A Simone Biles and Taylor Swift crossover just makes sense.”

Her performance Friday night positioned her for a strong run at qualifying for the 2024 team the U.S. plans to send to Paris to compete at this year’s Olympics. During each Olympic trials, the highest-scoring gymnast automatically makes the team the U.S. will send to Paris, and a committee will select four more after the trials are over.

Biles famously withdrew from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, citing mental health reasons at the time, but her performance at the US Olympic Trials indicates she's back and better than ever.
