Bhagyashree shared a special recipe using unpeeled potatoes that can help relieve muscle cramps. The skin of the potato is packed with magnesium and potassium.

Have you ever felt a sudden, sharp pain in your calf or hand, seemingly out of nowhere? Many of us have suffered from muscle cramps at least once in our lives. While they may seem like a minor annoyance, muscle cramps can have a significant impact on our daily lives and overall well-being. To help alleviate these painful spasms, actress Bhagyashree recently shared with the online community a simple and unique home remedy that might offer relief from cramps.

The special ingredient Bhagyashree used was potato peels. She highlighted their benefits by explaining that they are “packed with magnesium and potassium” – essential nutrients that muscles need. Bollywood actress and nutritionist Bhagyashree recently shared a YouTube video on her channel, in which she discusses the causes of cramps and provides information on how to achieve long-lasting relief.

In her video, Bhagyashree can be heard saying in Hindi: “Cramps occur due to a lack of potassium and magnesium. The best way to increase both at once is to eat potato peel in the form of sabzi.”

Let's see the recipe below:

Necessary ingredients

  • Oil- 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin or jeera seeds – 1 teaspoon
  • A pinch of asafoetida
  • Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Amchur powder or dried mango powder – 1 tsp
  • Boiled unpeeled potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Water

Preparation method

To prepare the dish, start by heating some oil in a pan. Sauté 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds and a pinch of asafoetida until fragrant. Next, add red chilli powder, coriander powder and a tablespoon of aamchur (dried mango powder). Next, add the boiled potatoes with the skin on, along with some water and salt to taste. Let the mixture cook slowly, allowing the flavours to blend. Serve this tasty dish with chapatis or rice and enjoy!

Sharing the recipe, the actress wrote: “Potato peels are high in magnesium and potassium. These are essential minerals that we need on a daily basis. A simple and inexpensive way to add them to your daily diet is not to scrape off the potato peels, but to clean them thoroughly and use them in food preparations. Crispy baked potato peels sprinkled with spices also taste very rich.”

Bhagyashree rose to fame with the hit film Maine Pyar Kiya, in which she starred alongside Salman Khan. Despite the film's immense success, she decided to take a break from acting to prioritise her family life. Beyond her acting career, Bhagyashree is also recognised for her dedication to social causes and her advocacy for health and wellness.
