Whoop on Thursday announced two new portable devices, Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG, which have more elegant hardware, a longer battery life and additional health information.

The company's new devices are designed for clothing 24/7.

The 5.0 Whoop and Whoop MG admit 14 days of the battery, which is around the four to five -day range offered by Whoop 4.0. The new hardware is also 7% smaller than the previous device, with a processor that is 60% faster, the company said.

“We have taken everything we have learned in the last decade and build a platform to help our members play and live at your peak for a longer time,” said the founder and CEO of Whoop, Will Ahmed, in a statement.

The launch marks the first major Whoop hardware update since 2021, when the company launched Whoop 4.0. Whoop said their new devices will help users understand how their daily decisions affect their performance and health results over time, according to a statement.

Costs and levels

There are three annual membership levels: Whoop One, which costs $ 199 and includes the 5.0 Whoop; Whoop Peak, which costs $ 239 and includes Whoop 5.0; and Whoop Life, which costs $ 359 and includes the WHOOP MG. Accessories as additional bands will have additional cost.

Membersies and WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG accessories are available for online purchase from Thursday.

WHOOP ONE members will be able to use their 5.0 Whoop to measure sleep, tension and recovery, as well as the cardiovascular and muscular impact of several training. Users can also track their cycles and menstrual pregnancies.

Whoop Peak is based on those central metrics. Members have access to a health monitor characteristic, which provides a quick look at vital ones such as respiratory rate, heart rate, blood oxygen and skin temperature. Whoop Peak also supports a real -time stress monitor, where users can see their stress level and complete guided breathing sessions if they wish to increase relaxation or alert state.

The company also announced a characteristic called Healthspan, which uses nine metrics to calculate the age and rhythm of the aging of adult users. The age of a user's Whoop compares his physiological age with his real age, and the rhythm of aging evaluates how fast or slow is that someone ages depending on his behavior.

The HealthSpan function is updated every week, and users will receive advice on how they can improve their age and aging rhythm in their application. Whoop developed this characteristic in association with the Buck Buck for Aging Research, said the company.

The most complete membership is Whoop Life, which will provide users access to additional medical grade health characteristics with WHOOP MG.

Whoop Life members can record an electrocardiogram, or an ECG, to detect irregular heart rhythms such as AFIB, high heart rate or low heart rate. Once the reading is completed, they can share a PDF of the recording with their doctor.

The ECG feature has been clear by the drug and food administration of the United States. It is not intended for users under 22 years of age, or for users with a cardiac pacemaker or other implanted devices. It will be available in the USA., EAU and QATAR at the launch, with additional countries that will arrive soon.

Whoop Life members can also obtain daily information about their blood pressure, including the estimated systemight and diastolic ranges. Users will have to record a traditional sleeve reading to act as a baseline to unlock this feature, and is not intended for treatment, diagnosis or medical use.

Whoop said that blood pressure information has been in development for several years, and the characteristic is currently in beta.

I took a look at the WHOOP MG, and I've been using it in recent days. I cannot talk about what the device is to use for a prolonged period, but my initial experience has been largely positive.

From the point of view of the hardware, the WHOOP MG looks and feels more elegant than Whoop 4.0, which I tried in April. The real sensor has approximately an inch wide, and the band is slightly thinner than that. I discovered that both the WHOOP MG and Whoop 4.0 are a bit difficult to take off, you really have to pull the latch.

The WHOOP MG configuration is very simple, and was in operation in the application in a matter of minutes. With all the new features, there are many additional data to make sense, so the application seemed quite busy at the beginning. However, I felt that I had a better handling after a few hours, and I have not felt pressure to constantly monitor it.

Of the new features, I thought Healthspan was particularly interesting. As a relatively healthy 24 -year -old boy, I noticed that I was still relieved to be “younger” than my age. I would be curious to see how that characteristic would change according to my behaviors from week to week.

I also liked the detailed follow -up of the WHOOP MG dream and the stress monitor in real time, since stress is something that I have personally been trying to be more conscious. I learned that my stress levels really shoot while I take public transport, for example, and adjust me accordingly.

After a dozen attempts, I could not register a successful ECG reading. I kept receiving mistakes, even after changing the dolls and the positioning of my arms. That has been disappointing, since I am interested in seeing my results. Blood pressure ideas are ordered and assuming that other users can successfully record ECG readings, it is easy to see the potential benefit. That said, I do not think I need those characteristics in my daily life yet, so the Whouop Life membership would probably not be the right choice for me.

I am not totally sold in the aesthetics of the WHOOP MG. I have little hands and dolls, so I always feel that smart devices tend to seem clumsy.

I definitely felt that Whoop 4.0 was too big for me, but the MG Whoop doesn't bother me so much. That is just my personal taste, and there are many Whoop accessories that you can buy to combine the device for different occasions.

After just a few days, there are many things that I can still learn from the WHOOP MG, but I feel that I would personally reach the Whoop 5.0. The range of membership options helps to ensure that users do not have to break the bank, so I would feel comfortable recommending Whoop 5.0 and WHOOP MG to my friends and family. And for existing Whoop customers who are thinking of an update, it is worth considering the extended battery life.
