Who is the Emmy troll that trolls at the awards ceremony?

While many stars are dressing to the nines for awards season, one star is trolling the “usual decorum” at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

On Monday, the public was quickly shocked when a green creature was seen crawling across the red carpet at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Beneath the troll, or “Emmys Goblin” outfit, is actually Princess Poppy, a contestant on season 15 of “RuPaul's Drag Race.”

“I wanted to take everything that was crass and ugly about the usual awards decorum and do the complete opposite,” Princess Poppy told The Times on Monday.

“I wanted to be a troll, literally and figuratively troll the Emmys,” he continued. “The purpose of doing this is a way to show that the rules of fashion, the rules of beauty and nonsense… I think it's more beautiful to present yourself like that than to present yourself like you normally would at an awards show.”

Princess Poppy said that when she started in this industry, she felt an “insurmountable pressure to look beautiful and gorgeous.” But then she realized, “Oh, wait, I can do the opposite.”

According to Princess Poppy, Christina Ricci approached the “Emmy elf” earlier that night and joked, “Oh, that's gross.”

“The looks I've gotten are priceless,” Princess Poppy added.

The San Francisco drag performer, 26, stepped away from the spotlight after her exit from “RuPaul's Drag Race,” telling Entertainment Weekly's Quick Drag podcast last year: “I want to disappear off the face of the planet. “I don’t want to be famous, I want to disappear into obscurity.”
