The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first against Uganda at the Providence Stadium, Guyana, on Sunday in the Group C match during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

It's Windies' second match. They began their World Cup campaign with a victory against Papua New Guinea (PNG).

Uganda, on the other hand, has played two matches so far. They lost to Afghanistan for 125, but a spirited performance in their next match against PNG helped them claim their first T20 World Cup victory.

Both teams play this match with unchanged lineups.

“Let's bat first. It looks like a typical Guyana wicket – low and slow. Hopefully we can put some runs on the board and defend it. It's still a wicket where you have to play good cricket shots. 110-120 is not defendable. One Once we improve in all three departments, we should be fine the last few days we trained and rested,” said Windies captain Rovman Powell during the toss.

Meanwhile, Uganda captain Brian Masaba said: “I probably would have batted first too. It's a bit difficult to chase. It's what we have. We have to bowl well. Historic moment for us.” [win against PNG]. For us we are back in business. He's just trying to get the kids focused again. We will try to come out here and do our best, make sure our processes are correct and we will try to put pressure on the West Indies.

“It's about reminding the guys what they've done well in the past as a batting unit. Just making sure they keep it nice and simple. Focus on the ball again. If we can do that, we can get a decent score.”
