Brady recently re-recorded the 40 yard distance with two timers where one recorded 5.12 and the other 5.18
There's been quite a stir in the sports world lately because future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady ran a faster 40-yard dash time at age 46 than he did at the National League combine. American Football (NFL) when he was only 22.
However, not everyone is convinced that Brady actually achieved a faster time.
“Twenty-four years ago, I ran a 5.28 40-yard dash,” Brady, 46, said in a video he posted on X, formerly Twitter. “Maybe, just maybe, we'll give 40 one more chance.”
The video then showed a crew on deck armed with two watches as Brady proceeded to run the distance, with one stopwatch registering 5.12 and the other 5.18.
It's a testament to Brady's unwavering commitment to his fitness and overall well-being, which no doubt played a huge role in his success as a seven-time Super Bowl champion, retiring after the 2022 NFL season.
As fans go crazy over Brady's new accomplishment, Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell, who served as Brady's backup quarterback in New England for two seasons, raised questions about the validity of the claim.
“Is it legit?” O'Connell asked Rich Eisen and Daniel Jeremiah on NFL Network's coverage of Saturday's NFL combine. “You can do a lot of things. I've seen what you guys can do with the technology around here.”
After mocking Brady, O'Connell admitted that nothing would surprise him with his former teammate.
“I wouldn't put it past him one bit. I mean, sneakers, grass field, beat his time. If we put a pair of cleats on him, he'll probably break a high five.”
Brady frequently responds to funny comments on social media, so it's unlikely this will be the last we hear of this light-hearted rivalry between two close friends.
