Three police officers among the four martyrs in the Kohat attack

At least four people, including three policemen, were martyred in a terror attack near Lachi Toll Plaza on Kohat Indus Highway. Geographic news reported on Wednesday.

According to initial reports, more than 10 terrorists attacked the Lachi toll plaza and security check post, leaving four dead, including three policemen.

Large contingents of the Pakistani police and army cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to hunt down the terrorists.

The terrorists are believed to be hiding in the nearby mountainous area. When contacted, police sources said that the terrorists will be arrested under the ongoing search operation.

Earlier this week, a roadside bomb killed at least five police officers deployed to protect polio vaccination workers in Mamund tehsil of Bajaur district. Geographic news reported.

Pakistani districts along the border with Afghanistan have seen a dramatic increase in attacks since the Taliban returned to power there in 2021.

Islamabad claims that Kabul harbors allied militants such as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), allowing them to attack its territory with impunity.

According to statistics released by KP Department of Home Affairs and Tribal Affairs, the areas most affected by terrorism include Peshawar, Khyber, Bajaur and Tank, while Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan and South Waziristan are included among the affected areas for terrorism.

Documents from the Home and Tribal areas revealed that a total of 1,050 incidents of terrorism took place in KP last year, while 419 incidents of terrorism took place in the concerted districts and 631 incidents in the merged districts.
