KARACHI: Residents of Karachi will continue to look forward to heavy rains as the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy with humidity on Tuesday.

Although the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast drizzle and light rain in the afternoon or evening, this is something the port city has already been experiencing for days and could provide residents with a brief respite from the scorching weather.

The minimum temperature, according to the Met Office, was recorded at 29.7°C and the maximum temperature is expected to reach 34-36°C.

The meteorological department said the humidity in the air was 80 percent and sea winds were blowing at a speed of 21 to 25 kilometers per hour.

A day ago, the megalopolis was in full swing and ambient temperatures reached 46°C during the day, according to weather expert Jawad Memon.

However, Memon said a rain system, which is developing in the Bay of Bengal, could affect Sindh between July 24 and 28. If the same system hits the Indian coastal state of Gujarat, he said, Karachi could also receive rains.
