Austin, Texas – Any concern that the recent legal dispute involving star Blake Lively could overcome the world premiere of “another simple favor” in SxSW hid much before the film began on Friday. Lively limited to Paramount Theater and greeted friends in the hall and posed for photos with fans, a safety guard kneeling behind her to stay out of the shots. Lively then took his seat between the rest of the cast and the crew of the film, with co -star Anna Kendrick sitting a row in front of her.
The film is a sequel of “to simple favor”, which was a modest success when it was launched in 2018, but has grown in popularity since then due to its availability in the transmission platforms. In the original film, directed by Paul Feig from a script by Jessica Sharzer, Kendrick played Stephanie Smothers, a widowed mother who plays a friendship with Emily Nelson glamorous, which attracts them both in an intrigue story, murder, cocktails, false identities, offspring and fantastic hairdressers and fantastic.
By presenting “another simple favor,” Feig said: “I usually do not make sequelae because I am terrified of them, because most of the sequelae are not great. And it was really scary, but we think:” I love these characters so much. “
Feig, dressed in an elaborate Western theme attire, complete with boots, hat and fringed jacket, added: “He simply felt as if there is anything else to do with these characters. But if you don't want to repeat the first movie, what can we do? Well, we are going to take them to Italy. And that is what will happen with this movie. So I think you will have a great time.”
From a script accredited to Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis, the new film begins with Kendrick Stephanie under house arrest in Capri, accused of killing the new Emily of Emily de Lively. Then, the film goes back to show Emily, apparently liberated from prison, reintegrate into Stephanie's life and ready to go to a glamorous wedding in Italy to a mysterious, handsome and rich suitor Dante (Michele Morrone).
With Stephanie once again insecure of the true reasons for Emily, she takes the beautiful environment and finds that the mystery deepens when she meets Emily's mother (Elizabeth Perkins) and aunt (Allison Janney). When Dante ends just an hour after marrying Emily (and having bidded his Prenupp), somehow Stephanie is blamed for the murder. And things only become more complicated from there.
After the projection, Feig returned to the stage with Kendrick and Lively, along with Perkins, Morrone and his cast companions Henry Golding, Andrew Rannellls, Bashir Salahuddin and Alex Newell.
Lively said: “I love this character. It is probably my favorite character that I have been lucky enough to play. And so, when Paul asked us to go back, he was very excited. I was really nervous in the first because we didn't know if we were making a drama or comedy. And when we ask Paul, he said 'Yes', which is not really an answer to the question. But it worked. Then I thought, 'ok, there are no nerves. I know what I am doing this time. And then, just before shooting, he said: “I have a small idea of a curve ball.”
Without giving one of the big turns of the film, Lively added: “The bet definitely increased. It was very uncomfortable to see in the theater with you. “
Upon returning to his character, Kendrick added: “Stephanie is, as children say, addicted not to serve. So I thought, 'I can't be very well dressed but comfortable?' I was really excited to play Stephanie, but in sneakers. “
Kendrick talked about how he had recently seen “Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang” before firing and based part of his performance on Blasé's attitude towards the murder and chaos of Robert Downey Jr.'s character as he said: “I think I thought, 'ok, if I go with her to a certain danger, I think I may not take it so seriously.”
Throughout the questions and answers, Kendrick and Lively were caution when speaking explicitly about some of the greatest turns in history. When Feig pointed out that the audience had just seen the film, Kendrick replied that there were innumerable cameras at the audience.
“There is this thing called the Internet, Paul,” Kendrick told a great laugh of the crowd.
