Shiloh Jolie's petition to remove Brad from her surname goes to court

Shiloh Jolie's petition to remove her father Brad Pitt's surname from her legal name is being postponed.

Shiloh, who turned 18 in May, is following in the footsteps of her sisters, Zahara and Vivienne, by opting for a name change.

However, the teenager will have to wait longer to shed her father's surname given the court's decision to postpone the hearing. People reported.

“Unfortunately, the court was unable to complete the background check prior to today's hearing, so the hearing has been rescheduled for August 19,” Jolie-Pitt attorney Peter Levine said in a statement.

“Anyone who applies for a name change must have a background check conducted by the court clerk, and due to a clerical error, Shiloh's hearing has been postponed to a new date.”

However, Brad Pitt, 60, is openly distraught that his second biological son has stopped using his last name.

“He's aware and upset that Shiloh stopped using his last name,” the source said. “The reminders that he lost his children are, of course, not easy for Brad. He loves his kids and misses them. It's very sad.”

“He is still happy with Inés. [de Ramon]the source continued, but the distance from her children “hurts her.”

However, she has previously faced criticism for not expressing the same sentiments when her adopted daughter, Zahara, chose her name.

The strained relationship stems from allegations of sexual assault on a private jet in 2016, which prompted Angelina Jolie, 49, to file for divorce.

The former couple share five children, Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, Pax, 20, Knox, 15, and Vivienne, 15.
