Following an indictment by a grand jury, Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in Manhattan after facing allegations of sexual assault, and his attorney has spoken out.
His arrest took place in a hotel lobby, although the charges against the embattled musician were not immediately clear.
Confirming his arrest, the 54-year-old's lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said: Variety“We are disappointed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s decision to pursue what we believe to be an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs.”
The statement further reads: “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, a self-made entrepreneur, a loving family man and a proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, doting on his children and working to uplift the Black community.”
“He's a flawed person, but he's not a criminal,” she continued. “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been very cooperative with this investigation and voluntarily moved to New York last week in anticipation of these charges.”
“Please reserve judgment until you have all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide and who hopes to clear his name in court,” the statement concluded.
Sean was under increasing scrutiny after a series of lawsuits were filed against him and a video of him violently attacking his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in the past was released, leading to a public outcry and his subsequent apology.
