KARACHI: After enduring scorching heat for several days, the port city can now breathe a sigh of relief with the restoration of sea breeze, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said on Monday.

The PMD also revealed that offshore winds are currently blowing at a speed of 18 kilometres per hour.

However, the Met Office also said that over the next 24 hours, the weather is expected to remain hot and humid, with maximum temperatures likely to reach between 35°C and 37°C.

Meanwhile, the humidity level in the air is at 70%.

In the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature was recorded at 32°C, according to the meteorology department.

Also on Sunday, weather analyst Jawad Memon revealed that due to hot and humid weather, the air pressure in the Arabian Sea is low but this is likely to change very soon.

According to Memon, the recovery of the sea breeze will soon cause sea clouds in the metropolis and the possibility of “rains at night and in the morning in different areas in the coming days.”

The provincial capital of Sindh has been hit by an intense heatwave in the past few days, with a brief respite from the intense heat resulting from a brief spell of rain.

Although there is no forecast of rain in the city today, experts suggest that monsoon showers are likely to begin this week.
