British comedian Russell Brand remained firm this week when he sexually assaulted four women from 1999 to 2005.
The controversial actor “take him to the Greek”, 49, appeared in a London court on Friday and declared himself innocent of two positions of rape, two positions of sexual assault and a position of indecent aggression. Brand, who was accused in April, said “not guilty” after each position was read in Southwark Crown Court. A legal representative of Brand did not immediately respond to the request for comments of the Times on Friday.
Brand, better known for starring obscene comedies, including “forgetting Sarah Marshall”, “Rock of Ages” and “Arthur”, entered his statement of guilt months after the United Kingdom authorities announced their counts against the comedian.
The charges come from four alleged separate incidents that involve different women. Prosecutors claim that Brand violated a woman in the English coastal area of Bournemouth in 1999. He also supposedly assaulted a second woman in 2001, raped orally and sexually assaulted a third woman in 2004 and sexually assaulted the fourth woman between 2004 and 2005. The three final accusations occurred in Westminster, according to the United Kingdom officers.
At that time, Brand denied accusations through social networks.
“He was a fool before living in the light of the Lord. He was a drug addict, a sex addict and a moron. But what was never a rapist. I have never involved in non -consensual activities,” he said in a video shared on Instagram and X (previously Twitter). “I pray that you can say that looking in my eyes.”
Before being accused, Brand faced previous accusations of sexual violation and aggression in September 2023, when The Times of London published his joint research with “Dispatches”, a news program on Channel 4 of Great Britain. Several women presented with which the brand sexually assaulted between 2006 and 2013. At that time, Brand refuted the “alleged very serious of the allegations.” Since Hollywood was distanced, Brand in recent years has remodeled as an anti-establishment commentator and conspiracy theories platforms on vaccines and September 11 attacks.
In November 2023, the actor was sued for sexual assault in New York for a woman who said she worked as an extra in the “Arthur” brand film. That same month, the BBC said he received multiple complaints about the risky comedian in relation to his conduct in the workplace when he organized radio programs from 2006 to 2008.
In recent years, Brand has also focused on religion. In 2024, he doubled his commitment to Christianity and was baptized in the Thames river. At that time, he said it was “an opportunity to leave the past behind and be reborn in the name of Christ.”
When he arrived at the court on Friday, Brand was seen grabbing a copy of “The Valley of Vision”, a collection of Puritan sentences.
His trial will begin on June 3, 2026, and it is expected to last four to five weeks.
