Indian Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma has named BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, Indian cricket team chief selector Ajit Agarkar and former head coach of the team Rahul Dravid as the “three pillars” that he said led to the team's victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Sharma expressed his gratitude to the three icons and the players who worked towards achieving the goal of lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup trophy.

“That is what was needed. I got a lot of help from my three pillars, which are Mr Jay Shah, Mr Rahul Dravid (and) chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar. That was very important for me to do what I did and not forget the players, who came in at different times and helped the team achieve what we achieved,” he said.

Speaking further about India's glorious victory in the final against South Africa and lifting the T20WC trophy, the former Indian T20I team captain revealed that the players had focused on developing a positive and relaxing dressing room environment rather than focusing on statistics or results.

“My dream was to transform this team and not worry too much about the stats, the results, to make sure I create that environment where people can go out and play freely without thinking too much,” Rohit said.

Sharma led the country to their second T20 World Cup title and now aims to overcome the challenges in their path and claim a place in the World Test Championship final.

India is scheduled to play two Tests against Bangladesh, three against New Zealand and five against Australia at the WTC.
