The author and actor Raegan Revord knows the power of representation.
Revord, who portrays Missy Cooper in the prequel of “Big Bang Theory”, the Spin -Offs “Young Sheldon” and the “first marriage of Georgie & Mandy”, confirmed that they are not binary in a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight” and said it has been “so great to think that being their authentic being could help other children like them.
“When growing, every time I saw a celebrity or who was going as non -binary or queer or anything, I was like 'Oh, my God, this is great, I see myself in you,' 'Revord said in his first interview addressing his gender identity. “It is crazy to have that experience in which I am now that person and there could be a child somewhere who is like 'Oh, my God, I see you myself.' It's crazy to think because I was in the place of that child at some point in my life.”
The 17 -year -old also addressed the importance of queer representation in the media while arguing his new book, “rules for false brides.” The romantic comedy of young adults follows Avery Blackwell, a first -year rise university student who postpones her plans to attend Columbia after a note of her late mother sends her to a treasure search in England. On the way to his mother's coastal mater, Avery meets Charlie, a lovely place who needs a false girlfriend quickly. Avery ends according to the false romance in exchange for help in the search for the treasure.
“When I was more to read and expand my horizons and read stories and watch television and things, there was not much strange representation,” Revord said, noting that he has changed in 10 years.
Revord has addressed the theme in numerous interviews while promoting “rules for false brides”, which they wrote in part while filming the last season of “Young Sheldon.”
“I always wanted to write something where people could see themselves because I didn't have that in books,” Revord told Publisher's Weekly.
“One of my favorite graphic programs and novels is 'Heartstopper'. I love that series, and the way they show queer love as an innocent thing is so beautiful.
