Quentin Tarantino considers himself a big fan of Toy History; However, he said he has no desire to see the fourth installment because the story concluded satisfactorily in the third.
His comments appear in a podcast CLub Random with Bill Maher, where he talked about his love for the animated franchise.
“I don’t watch all the animated movies and stuff, but I’m a huge fan of the Toy Story trilogy,” he added, “I think there’s only one trilogy that totally and absolutely works to the nth degree and that’s A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”
“It’s a movie that no other trilogy has been able to make,” the Oscar-winning filmmaker continued. “The first movie is great, but the second one is so great and takes the idea to such a great level that it eclipses the first one.”
He added: “And then the third one does the same thing with the second one, and that's something that never happens. You'll see a big jump from the first one to the second one and they don't really get the third one right.”
With this reasoning, Quentin said: “In the case of Toy Story, the third one is just magnificent,” and noted: “It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. And if you’ve seen the other two, it’s just devastating.”
“But the problem is, three years later or something, they made a fourth one and I don't feel like watching it. You literally finished the story as best you could, so no, I don't care if it's good. I'm done.”
Meanwhile, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed Toy Story 5 It is in the works and will be launched in 2026.
